about

"U Came 2 My Party (But I Was 2 High)" sings, screams and whispers Cindy Gravity in their new single of this very title. And the Berlin trio has nothing more to add to this one line. Cindy Gravity manages to tell a story full of expectation, disappointment, hope and loss with a single line of lyrics. The pompous arrangement provides constant tension, with a new variation of the theme waiting behind every bar, building up more and more. For a moment it feels like you can take a breath and have a smoke in front of the club, before the song plunges into the fulminant finale, not even stopping at autotune.

Cindy Gravity explores the boundaries of the psychedelic pop genre with "U Came 2 My Party (But I Was 2 High)", combining a sparkling pop ethos with languid J Dilla beats and a vain rock attitude. It's as if Alt J and Muse had a baby. For all fans of the Gorillaz, MGMT, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and LA Priest.
